As a response to my post, today, that I was molested by the TSA, Johnny Kramer FYI’d me on this Doug Casey article: “A Short Course in Clearing Customs.”
I suspect many, even most, people resent being herded like cattle into lines in order to be interrogated, have their baggage rifled and have their government-issued papers stamped. But, in years of watching my fellow citizens being processed, I find it rare that any have other than an ingratiating smile for the agent.
Casey spells out the rules for maintaining your cool with the bureaucrats as they harass you. Similar rules apply when dealing with the TSA – I am really amazed at how many people are smiling and making small talk with their TSA interrogators/assailants while their rights are being mocked and violated. These kinds of folks will probably love the TSA’s new facial expression-reading, “behavior detection” program that identifies microexpressions that “reveal intentionally concealed emotions.”
