Ahh, National Security

Of course, I suppose I’m expected to say at this point that “not all air marshals are bad.” If drugs were legal (and yes, I mean cocaine too) and dimbulbs were not hired to wear badges, this would be a perfectly legal business. Which it should be. And not some crime giving said dimbulbs with said badges the ability to “arbitrage” their official positions in this way.

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)–Two U.S. air marshals were arrested after allegedly trying to use their official federal positions to bypass airport security to smuggle 15 kilograms of cocaine, according to cable news reports Monday.

CNN said that the two had intended to sneak in the cocaine shipment aboard a flight departing from the Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

The two were to be paid $15,000 upfront for the shipment, with the promise of more to come, the report said. The two are expected to make their initial court appearance Monday, CNN said.

I think it’s also, um, interesting which airport they were trying to smuggle that bag of blow into.
