Advice for Pennsylvania Republicans

The odious Senator Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, the poster boy for power mad D.C. politicians, recently switched parties and became a Democrat because Pennsylvania Republicans are sick of him and won’t nominate him for another term. Good for them. He’s responded by throwing spitballs at them, the latest of which is his charming statement that Jack Kemp (R.I.P.), who passed away over the weekend, would still be alive if the Republican Party had supported a greater degree of nationalization of health care over the past 40 years.

Here’s my two cents worth of advice for Pennsylvania Republicans: Re-register as Democrats so you can vote Specter out in the Democratic Senatorial primary. That’ll be more fun than voting for all the usual hopeless G.O.P. hacks that you send to Harrisburg and D.C.
