Absurd Interpretation of ‘Firearm’

The Sun reports:

A TOURIST taking a souvenir toy soldier home from Britain was ordered to remove its THREE INCH rifle before boarding a plane.

But the airport stands by its decision:

A spokeswoman for Gatwick Airport said: “Firearms and items with the appearance of firearms are prohibited.

“There are lots of reasons an item could be prevented from going through security.”

This does seem to fit right in with Gary North’s first law of bureaucracy: “Some bureaucrat will enforce a written rule in such a way as to make the rule and the bureaucracy seem either ridiculous, tyrannical, or both.”
