Lew, not only are the “leading contenders” neocons but they are also probable losers against Obama. Obama is following the Bill Clinton playbook of triangulating against the liberal Democrats and conservative Republicans in Congress. Plus, he gave his version of Clinton’s Oklahoma City speech and his was better than Clinton’s. The GOP only slows down spending when there is a Democrat in the White House so Obama will benefit from that as Clinton did. The best chance to upset what is looking more and more inevitable is a Ron Paul candidacy. Dr. Paul is the only candidate who can upset the ideological applecart and outflank Obama to the left on war, corporate welfare and civil liberties.
