A Triple Header in Vancouver, New Hot Bed of Austro-Lbertarianism

Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada will host three (count ‘em) different Austro-libertarian events in the next little while. Why is it that Vancouver has suddenly become the place to be for our movement? Could it be because of the recent Winter Olympic Games? Is it because of our lovely weather? Inquiring minds want to know. But, inquiring minds will have to be disappointed, since the explanation has not yet been vouchsafed to us. In any case, everyone should take advantage of this sudden beneficence. The seminars are as follows:

1. University of British Columbia Libertarian Club with Walter Block (Friday, April 2nd)
2. Greater Vancouver Libertarian Association Supper Club with Morgan Poliquin (Saturday, April 3rd)
3. Capitalism & Morality seminar with Larry Reed, Walter Block, Lila Rajiva, Paul Geddes (Saturday, May 8th)

April 3. Vancouver, BC, Canada. Newly minted Ph.D. (and new dad) Dr. Morgan Poliquin will discuss the importance of gold for monetary and non monetary uses, and the trials and tribulations of gold mining. May 8. Vancouver, BC, Canada. Libertarian seminar. This is an all day extravaganza, starting at 8:30 am, with opening remarks from seminar host, Jayant Bhandari, and featuring:

9 to 11am: Character & a Free Society” by Lawrence W. Reed, President, Foundation for Economic Education, USA. As a journalist, Lawrence visited 69 countries; spent time with Contra rebels in Nicaragua; lived with Mozambique rebel forces; travelled with freedom activists in Poland
11 to 11:15am: Coffee
11:15 to 1:15pm: “Defending the Undefendable” by Walter Block, Harold E. Wirth Eminent Scholar Chair in Economics and Professor of Economics at Loyola University New Orleans and Senior Fellow with the Ludwig von Mises Institute,
1:15 to 2:15pm: Lunch
2:15 to 4pm: “How Capitalism Tames the Vices” by Lila Rajiva, author of The Language of Empire and the bestselling Mobs, Messiahs and Markets, which she co-authored with Bill Bonner
4 to 4:15pm: Coffee
4:15 to 4:45pm: Closing remarks by Paul Geddes, Vice-President, West Coast Libertarian Foundation, Canada
