A Nigerian’s Appreciation of Ron Paul

As you can see from this series of letters between me and Mr. Michael Onasanya of Nigeria, appreciation for Congressman Ron Paul is by no means limited to Americans. I greatly hope Mr. Onasanya sends me a YouTube talk on this matter. When and if he does, I will certainly blog it right here.

My thoughts on this correspondence: It had been my view, before reading his initial magnificent letter, and his follow-up responses to me, that I stood second to no one in my own appreciation of Ron Paul as a man, as a friend, and for what he has done for libertarianism. After reading what Michael Onasanya has to say, I realize I am now in a horse-race as far as the Ron Paul appreciation sweepstakes are concerned.

Subject: Ron Paul

Dear Mr. Block, my name is Michael Onasanya, I am Nigerian and an ardent fan of Lewrockwell.com. Please tell Congressman Ron Paul that there are those though not American, who however, adore him to pieces. Just so you know, I learned everything about true freedom from the articles by the wonderful people who write for Lewrockwell.com, this email however, is about that courageous and celestial human called Ron Paul, from him and his activities, I learned courage, fortitude, patience, humility, kindness in the face of opposition, gentleness and a host of other things too numerous to list, I sometimes envy his children and if I ever come back to this world, and he was here before me, I would request God make me his son.

Concisely, Ron Paul is the rarest of men, one who inspires, motivates, and restores belief in the goodness of man. I have benefitted a lot from you all and I would like to contribute my widow’s mite to the pollination of minds so please, let me know how I can be of worth to you. I deliberately wrote this email to you in the hope that you would know how to get it across to the ‘Man’ himself, the great Ron Paul, thank him for me and others like me who understand, thanks to you, that freedom is all about ‘live and let live’ and ‘first, do no harm’…

cheers,
Michael Onasanya

Dear Michael:

Dear Michael:

May I suggest, no, urge, you to create a you tube talk of your views
on Ron Paul? If you do this, please send me the url for it, so that I
can broadcast it, send it to the Ron Paul campaign, etc.

Dear Mr. Block, thank you for taking the time to respond to my email, I am highly gratified. As to what I do, I am an information systems architect, specializing in the practical implementation of Artificial (synthesized) intelligence technologies.

Unfortunately, Nigeria my country, does not seem ready for people like myself as the country is neither interested in advanced research, or development of anything but still, those like me persevere after all, the world is truly connected now and globalization is a fact, with a big market so one way, or the other, we’ll survive and even thrive.

I will endeavor to make the video as advised, extolling the proven virtues of Ron Paul and I dearly hope Americans can open their eyes long enough to see what we foreign observers see – Ron Paul truly cares about America and humanity – in a way no other American politician does. He can make us (Americans and foreigners) believe in America again, the city on a shining hill, the light of humanity that was once America…

Cheers,
Michael Onasanya

Dear Mr. Block, you may do as you wish with the correspondence, do edit the typos though lest some left-wing good-doer, or right-wing chicken-hawk (LOL..) accuse me of illiteracy. The feelings expressed within are genuine and heartfelt, and the intention is to let Congressman Ron Paul know that beyond the shores of America, he is adored intensely…A prophet has no honor in his country after all…

Cheers,
Michael Onasanya
