A duet, not an echo

Karen, Ram Emanuel is not just one of the leading Democratic neocons centered around the Democratic Leadership Council (DLC), he is also a former adviser to Bill Clinton. Thus, any pronouncements he makes can be seen as reflecting the direction the Clintons’ wish to take the Democratic party. The leading contender for the Republican nomination, John McCain, could easily endorse most of Emanuel’s proposals, and shares the DLC’s love of Teddy Roosevelt. McCain and Hilliary Clinton also take moderate stances on the “social” issues (e.g. abortion, homosexual marriage).

Therefore, if, as appears likely, Hilliary and McCain get their parities respective nominations in 2008 will there be even a penny’s worth of difference between the two parities?
