A crushing defeat all around

Here in Colorado, the 4th CD just went Democrat for the first time since 1972. The 4th CD is a district of white farmers, ranchers, and white suburbanites. The incumbent Marilyn Musgrave was unseated, and it wasn’t even that close.

The GOP also lost the US senate seat held by GOP Sen. Allard. The GOP has now lost both Senate seats in the last 4 years. It also lost the governorship in 2006, and the only Republicans left in the state’s delegation to Congress are 2 out of 7 House seats.

In 2004, The GOP had both US Senate seats, 5 out of 7 US House seats, control of the Legislature, and the Governorship. Under Bush, the GOP has lost everything here.
