A critic responds to my speech

The Rockford Institute’s Scott Richert responds to my Lou Church Lecture, “The Trouble with Catholic Social Teaching.” (As of this posting, Scott has two posts on my paper; you have to scroll down to see them both.)

It should be noted that there is a footnoted version of the paper that cites relevant authorities, but Scott could not have known that, and so his criticism on that front is well taken.

Incidentally, Scott and I met in 1996 when we gave papers together at the E.F. Schumacher Society Decentralist Conference. We knew it was going to be an ordeal when the organizers announced at the beginning that Al Gore — you know, that big decentralist — sent his greetings.
