97% believe the 2nd Amendment grants the right to keep and bear arms.  Nice sentiment, really.  But, of course, I nearly voted ‘no’ because of the poor wording of the question.  The 2nd Amendment does not grant any right. People have rights inherently and no piece of paper or government edict can grant something that it doesn’t have in the first place.  All the 2nd amendment does is make explicit that the government is not allow to abridge that right through the arrogation of power via legislative edict.

I find the intellectual laziness in polls stunning, to say the least.  I’m encouraged that that many people, though, still understand the basic concept.
