Red Sox on Brink of Elimination: Bad for Peace and Liberty

Lew has converted me to Red Sox-ism as far as the American League is concerned. I was already predisposed since I absolutely loathe the Yankees and have loathed them for as long as I can remember. The Yankees truly are the official team of establishment Neocons and other fourth-rate humans, and they might as well be the official team of National Review. If you’re a white trust-funder who’s never had to work a day in your life, but you like to write about politics, you’re almost certainly a Yankees fan.The fact that the Sox are the anti-Yankees makes them automatically a good team.

The fact that the Yankees were in the World Series in 2001 made them also the official team of the War on Terror and Giuliani, and a host of other atrocities. It was pretty magnificent when the Diamondbacks did them in that year.

And did you ever notice that the Fox Sports announcers gush over the Yankees regardless of who is playing? It could be a Milwaukee-San Diego game and the Fox people would be going on and on about how totally awesome the Yankees are. Of course, we are talking about Fox, so their preference should not surprise.

However, having grown up on Los Angeles, I remain a Dodgers fan (who, BTW, just polished off the Cardinals) , and Lew has yet to turn me against them in spite of his argument (and Karen’s) about the “Nationalist” League.
