Nationalist Internationalists

On the one hand, one American life is worth a million foreigners. So bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki to save even a few Americans from dying in a ground invasion was well worth it.

On the other hand, of course Americans had to continue dying in that war even after the threat to America was clearly beaten back. What makes America so special is the tendency of its soldiers to die for the good of people the world over.

Just the newest contradiction I’ve heard from the nationalist internationalists, now that it is the anniversary of Nagasaki.
