It's not just the U.S. military that knows how to move large quantities of equipment. A reader of my recent article, "Should the U.S. Military Go to Haiti?" suggests that NASCAR could do just as good a job:
Head out to your nearest NASCAR (personally I am an open wheel fan) and check out the logistics displayed by some 150 teams on a race weekend. They load, travel hundreds of miles, and unload every week. And sometimes they put it all on airplanes.
The same could be said about the NHRA. I'll bet Walmart could do an even better job than anyone, including the military, and certainly better than FEMA.
Update: It turns out that NASCAR is helping in the relief effort.
