Last night on cable, LA Democratic congresswoman Maxine Waters said she loved Haiti, and had devoted "much of my congressional career to Haiti." Oh. That means she is probably in the pay of the Haitian government. This is a consequence of empire. Elites in the colonies use US foreign aid in part to buy influence in the capital. Indeed, anytime a US politician evinces particular loyalty to a foreign client state, I wonder how much he is being paid. Come on, Maxine, fess up. Joe Lieberman, you, too.

This is also a good time to advocate an end to all foreign aid, not its expansion under Obama. Foreign aid only strengthens the local power elite, and the power elite in DC and their allied businesses, who get the contracts. Americans are ripped off. Theft is not charity. US out of Haiti! Entirely private charities, in, if that is their decision. BTW, the involvement of corruptionist and killer Bill Clinton—UN  envoy to Haiti—gives some indication of what a financial windfall this will be for all the bad guys.
