I actually thought that Obama might be an exception to the old rule that sooner or later, every president makes you nostalgic for his predecessor.

If there is any mea culpa to be said, it is the American public for believing in fairy tales and not seeing the “plain truth of things.” I even voted for King Richard from Yorba Linda in ’72 and the peanut farmer from Georgia in ’76. I should have remembered the words of the song: “and we won’t get fooled again.” Fortunately for me, I discovered Ed Clark and the libertarians in 1980.
