Palin Envy

"Morning Joe" today was typical of the mainstream media: bitterly envious of Sarah Palin and her new book, Going Rogue. Who can doubt her stories of McCain's political consultants dressing her in ugly,  hyper-expensive duds and ordering her to say and not to say certain things. Of course, a VP candidate agrees to do what she is told. (No wonder Ron Paul would never do it.) Meanwhile, TV women like Mrs. Greenspan (Andrea Mitchell), Katrina van den Heuval, and Nora O'Donnell burn with obvious envy. The male editor of Newsweek, a fervent Obamaite, says she is bad for the Republican party. Oh. BTW, who reads Newsweek? Even the name is a joke. Then a writer for the Wall St. Journal agreed she was awful. But if the book excerpt they read, about the time Mrs. Greenspan went to Alaska to watch Sarah fish is typical of the book, watch out. Sarah says she was hoping for rough weather, so Andrea would have to wear waders and clamber over the bow of the boat. Instead, the water was calm and it was warm and sunny, with no mud, and so she did not, unfortunately, get a chance to see Andrea "slimed."

Last fall, just after the election, the late Burt Blumert predicted that the campaign against Sarah would never end, for two reasons. One, the liberal women and their men of the Democratic party hate her looks and her refusal to have an abortion, not to speak of her decision to have five children or to shoot moose. Two, they feared she was the one Republican who could beat Obama in 2012. Too bad she is an unreflective warmonger and is pals with Bill Kristol, but she has picked up on the issue that powered Nixon-Agnew to victory—middle American dislike of the mainstream media, a dislike that still typifies the Republican base all these years later.

Burt, you must be enjoying all this!

UPDATE Rand Paul wants Sarah to campaign for him, more proof he can be the Republican nominee for the federal senate from Kentucky.
