Last night, via podcast, I heard Charles Goyette talking about his new book, Dollar Meltdown, on Coast to Coast With George Noory. Now Charles is no novice. He was a successful talk-show host. Still, he was extraordinary. It is far from easy to promote one's book, and the Austrian and libertarian ideas it embodies, in this compelling a fashion, and to a general audience, even when the interviewer is as good as Noory. Charles was on for more than two hours, and there was not one uninteresting moment. Something else: when Charles was a talk show host in Phoenix, the station owner, Clear Channel, insisted he promote Bush's wars on Iraq and "terror." Charles, a libertarian hero, refused and was fired. Now boom-crazed as well Clear Channel is bankrupt, and Charles Goyette has a bestseller. How sweet it is.
