I was worried. When I saw that Socialist Party A (the RepubliCONs) might be able to prevent Socialist Party B (the DemocRATs) from implementing what I'm pretty sure will be the last straw in bringing this country to complete economic ruin, I was deeply troubled. But now that the public health insurance option looks more and more like a done deal, I'm pretty sure I will see in my lifetime the fall of the United States of Socialist America—just like I was alive to watch the fall of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
Their work swiftly heralded by President Barack Obama, House Democrats rolled out landmark legislation Thursday to extend health care to tens of millions who lack coverage, impose sweeping new restrictions on private insurers and create a government-run insurance option for cost-conscious consumers.
The measure "covers 96 percent of all Americans, and it puts affordable* coverage in reach for millions of uninsured and underinsured families, lowering health care costs for all of us," boasted Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., at a ceremony attended by dozens of Democratic lawmakers.
I just get such a kick every time I hear the government declare that it is making something "affordable." If I had a printing press in my apartment (like the government has via the "Federal" Reserve), I can't begin to tell you all of the things that would suddenly become "affordable" to me.

*Believe it or not, as I was in the process of writing this blog, the Yahoo News link that I used actually changed the statement that Pelosi made. In the original printed statement she mentioned, "affordable, quality..." [emphasis mine] The article excerpts you see in this blog are different from the original excerpts that I posted. I thought something was wrong at first when I checked my link. Then I realized what had happened.
