I have to give Obama a little credit. George Bush wouldn't have been caught dead near US war dead, and his censors banned media images of the coffins. I know, I know, it's probably a trick to keep the Democratic base in line with his wars. And note that I could only really respect Obama in this regard if he went on a funeral tour for Afghan, Iraqi, and Pakistani dead. And how about Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Laotian dead? Don't forget Waco either.
UPDATE from Tom White:
I find it interesting he decided to welcome home the remains, when it included the first DEA agents killed.
UPDATE from Tony Pivetta:
I remember watching the Travel Channel’s No Reservations a couple of years ago. Host Anthony Bourdain traveled to Laos, where he met a peasant farmer who’d had an arm and a leg sheared off by a long since dropped (but unexploded) American bomb. He had inadvertently plowed over the bomb while working his fields. Apparently, there are hundreds of such incidents every year in Laos, 35 years after the U.S. mission to liberate Indo-China. The U.S. never did liberate Indo-China, but at least it’s still liberating Indo-Chinese from their lives and limbs.
