That's what "Labor [Union] Day" is about.  As every good free market economist knows, the only way unions have ever been able to raise wages above market-clearing wages is by the use of violence -- even including murder -- to prohibit competition from non-unionized workers.  The pro-union academic establishment covers up the thuggery with myriad myths about unions.  They're even falsely given credit for the fact that we have leisure time!
