Only in the Nannyized, overbearing, micro-managed USSA, where politicians, elitists, lobbyists, and citizen tyrants desire to crack the whip from the bully pulpit, would there be a Distracted Driving Summit. An entire summit, consisting of "senior transportation officials, elected officials, safety advocates, law enforcement representatives and academics." Only in this statist, Safety-Nazi land of the unfree would we need to bring in academics to chime in on the complex, highbrow topic of texting while driving. Doepartment of Transportation head Ray LaHood has said he "would prefer to ban texting while driving right away, but that the nation's experience with seat belt laws shows a broad approach involving education and proper penalties needs to be part of the mix." Oh my — proper penalties!
