The Last Samurai

I don't see why Sailer didn't like the Last Samurai. It was the only movie I've seen in a long time that didn't seem twice too long. It manages to be pro-rebel, anti-imperialist, and pro-monarchy all at once, and provides a devastating indictment of how governments misuse capitalist technology to smash indigenous cultures (thus putting a new spin on an old leftist complaint about technological advance). It is also a beautiful movie. What's not to like?
