Neocons Lose It Over Ron Paul

Writes Steven Greenhut:

I was happy to read Fred Reed’s column about military service. Within conservative circles, of course, it is now a radical and extremist position to be against bombing, maiming, torture and killing. As part of my column lampooning government intrusion in our lives, I made same suggestions for celebrating the July 4 holiday, including this one:

Fourth, try attending one of the many military displays, where you can honor those agencies that have protected your freedoms by invading countries that you previously had never heard of. While you’re at it, try appreciating every one of the $500 billion-plus spent by the Pentagon this year, along with the additional billions spent by the nation’s intelligence officials to protect your freedoms in ways so important that they must be kept secret from you.

This caused the local neocons at RedCounty.com to become unhinged, and they unloaded vicious attacks first on me, but mainly on Ron Paul and libertarians in general, whom they accuse of hating America. They even blamed libertarians and Paul in particular for the GOP’s losses, which I found particularly funny.

My old colleague John Seiler wrote a wonderful rebuttal. Anyway,  I  thought  I’d offer you more examples about how the neocons view Paul as their main enemy. They never get this angry even at Obama!
