re: The Coming US Breakup?

Writes Jay Roberts:

I’ve long thought that the U.S. will be breaking up soon and seeing articles like this in the mainstream just means that the day is drawing closer. Remember that only 6 months ago, us Paulistas were derided as kooks for predicting the economic scenario that is playing out today.

I’m currently in Japan with my wife and child on our annual visit to her hometown near Kyoto. This year, we are seriously exploring relocating to Japan, so my wife has been talking to a number of recruiters here in Japan. Interestingly, the recruiters here report a distinct uptick of couples like us – U.S/Japanese intermarriage, seeking return to Japan – for the reasons similar to ours. That is, the seemingly hopeless economic/political/social prospects for the U.S.

Just like the financial crisis, the political crisis will blow in pretty quickly without a whole lot of warning. However, I’m pretty sure that your readers will not be caught flatfooted w/no plans, just like many of them were prepared for the financial crisis.

Keep up the good work, your site is the first one I read every day to catch up on news in the U.S.
