I'll Miss John Dingell

The essence of old-guard Washington, Rep. Dingell will be missed in his role as as chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee. Sound crazy? No. Do I like him? Not. But Dingell has been the last line of defense who stood between the social engineering EnviroCommunists and the cars we drive. Call this Obama's coup. Obama, an enviromental crisis-monger, is paving the way for his massive plans to stick every American in an East German-style roller skate and throw them to the alternative energy wolves. Perhaps he'll even appoint a Thermostat Czar and a Food Oversight Czar. Or perhaps all of our wretched human habits will be regulated/engineered under one umbrella and one czar: the Lifestyle and Wellness Czar. [I am referring to Obama's pre-election comments that stated: "We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK."] Also remember that Obama said that global climate change is responsible for "drought, famine, forest fires, tornadoes, hurricanes, and typhoons." And now to my point -- the Las Vegas Review-Journal gets it right:

Rep. Dingell, 82, is hardly a free-market zealot. Nonetheless, he represents greater Detroit and is seen as a champion of the auto business. Skeptical of massive steps to cripple the economy in pursuit of the chimera of "global warming," he has slowed or blocked action on stricter vehicle emissions standards, fuel-economy improvements and other initiatives to accelerate the "green" destruction of the domestic auto industry.

Rep. Waxman, on the other hand, represents not constituents who manufacture a product made of steel, but rather a town that manufactures dreams.

Dingell's exit, along with Waxman's Marxism and Hollywood grandstanding, are going to mean very, very bad things for freedom in America.
