Re: Two More Strikes Against Palin

Regarding my earlier “Two More Strikes Against Palin“:

1. Some are crying foul about Bovard and many others maintaining that Palin connected the war in Iraq with September 11th. The Washington Post is now reporting that “Tracey Schmitt, a spokeswoman for the McCain-Palin campaign, said Palin was referring to al-Qaeda in Iraq” when she said to Iraq-bound soldiers that they would “defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans.” This doesn’t change anything. Bovard never said, like the Post originally did, that Palin was connecting Saddam Hussein with September 11th. However, Palin was most definitely connecting the war in Iraq with September 11th. All Republican politicians try to milk September 11th for all it’s worth. She was speaking on September 11th, and mentioned soldiers “lost in the broad conflict that began seven years ago.” She also mentioned September 11th by name and did in fact refer to soldiers going to Iraq to defend “the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the deaths of thousands of Americans.” She called these soldiers “mighty warriors.” She also referred to soldiers being sent off “in defense of America and of America’s cause, and it’s a righteous cause.” The war in Iraq is a “just and vital cause.” I don’t see a transcript online yet, but I listened to her speech several times. Palin is a deceived warmonger like Bush and McCain. She just looks nicer.

2. I realize that Palin is campaigning for McCain because she accepted the nomination for vice president, but some libertarians don’t seem to have a problem with that so I am emphasizing other things about her since some libertarians, like Charles Murray, are “deeply in love” with her.
