The left-liberals have been terrible at reacting to Palin, indeed falling right into the GOP trap of viciously attacking her background and thus bringing the culture war back to electoral politics. Most recently, they have been stupidly responding to Palin's quip about Obama's experience as a community organizer by saying, "Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor."

Do these people want to lose? Predictably, the rightwing pundits have pointed out how bizarre, inappropriate, and unconvincing this new liberal talking point is. But I seem to recall a lot of deification of Bush, comparisons between him and the US troops to Christ and His sacrifices, and insinuations that the Dems were partisans of the Devil. There does seem to be a double standard here, as in many culture war battles. So I suggest to the left-liberals: Shut up. Stop it with the culture war. You will lose.
