There are so many nuggets in this one article, that I hardly know where to begin. First, after repeated failed attempts to change legislation that was previously passed by Congress (the Endangered Species Act), the administration has just decided to change it anyway. Second, I'm very worried that this re-writing of the law will indeed result in "more efficient" public works projects. Third, this statement is just ridiculous:
"This is the fox guarding the hen house. The interests of agencies will outweigh species protection interests," said [attorney] Eric Glitzenstein
Yes - it is the fox guarding the hen house, but how was getting approval from "government scientists" not the same thing (but with a slight twist)?
Has anyone considered that we should re-institute private property laws in this country?
