re: The Neocon Distinguished Service Award

The practice of military generals dressing up with frilly ribbons goes back a long way, of course. The description of Gen.Patraeus as being decorated in a way that would impress a twelve-year old boy reminded me of how the ordinary soldiers referred to Gen. Winfield Scott, who was on his last leg in 1861, as “ole fuss and feathers.”
