Ron Paul, Not John McCain

Writes rave dj susan28: “Today I was asked by MoveOn.org to explain why I don’t support McCain, and I cheerfully obliged them – but I think my response might have been more than they bargained for :) . I’ve copied it below for your enjoyment.”

I oppose Mr. McCain because he supports wars of aggression; he revels in violating not only Iraq’s national sovreignty but our own in the form of things like the Patriot act, corporate welfare at taxpayer expense for the benefit of the multinationals that own him lock, stock and barrel by way of both direct grants and no-bid contacts, as well as supporting the Federal Reserve and the larceny-via-inflation that is its stock in trade; and amnesty for illegal immigrants, again a form of outright *theft* from taxpaying citizens.

But I also oppose Obama, because he favours strict gun control, which is both unconstitutional and a threat to civil liberty. He supports a UN treaty that would ban the possession of all small arms – including handguns – by all civilians of the signatory nations, which would override our Bill of Rights (for my fellow civil rights advocates, that includes the 2nd Amendment which many of you hold in such shameful contempt). Our 2-party system regularly saddles us with candidates which, between them, manage to encompass the full gamut of civil rights violations, and so, at this point, protest votes speak more loudly than a vote for any establishment candidte, who passionately advocate “change” while slowly but surely stripping us of our liberties – *that’s* the “change” – the Dems our guns and the Repubs our privacy, until there’s nothing left. It’s a bipartisan effort by the elites that run both companies.

I’m writing in Ron Paul.

If this “shocks” you coming from someone who was a lifelong Democrat until Clinton betrayed her tireless efforts to elect him by slapping her in the face with “don’t ask don’t tell” and the assault weapons ban, then feel free to email me at susan28@susan28.com and we’ll chat about it.

I’m through voting for the lesser evil. As Patrick Henry said, “Give me liberty or I’m not supporting your candidates!” .. or something like that..
