See Wikipedia on Tibet, and such intereting items as the Chinese empowerment of the Dalai Lama as king, the British invasion and conquest in 1904, and machine-gunning of Tibetan soldiers, the Chinese reconquest, and the CIA’s secret funding and running of the Tibet independence movement, until Nixon called it off. Could the CIA be active again?

Now, of course, Tibet–like Iraq, Afghanistan, the West Bank and Gaza, Chechnya, Kurdistan, etc.–has a right to peaceful independence. But when the US demonizes a foreign country, we have an obligation not to be swept up in jingoism. Such propaganda campaigns are designed for imperialistic purposes, and must be opposed.
