A 3-year-old Detroiter with a 20-piece, custom drum set, who jams with famous session players and assorted musicians. Julian Pavone started drumming at the age of three months, landed his first contract gig at 15 months old, and has played at the House of Blues. I watched the videos of him drumming ("Brickhouse" and "Smoke on the Water," among other songs) and was stunned. See his videos here.
"He plays like a 30-year-old with such precision, definition and focus that it's incredible," said Grammy Award-winning guitarist and producer Michael J. Powell.
..."I strapped him in a baby (sling) at 3 months to practice the drums and Julian reached up and grabbed my drum sticks from me and started playing on the tom-tom. By 9 months he could do drum rolls and I knew he had a gift from God."
This kid is too amazing for words. See this article about him and his family.
If Obama loses North Carolina tomorrow--and becomes likely to be the next Resident of the United States--blame his elitist's opposition to gas tax relief.
The Obama's are millionaires who made $900,000 in 2006 so they do not feel your pain at the pump.
Not that Tom Hanks' endorsement isn’t another kiss of death.
By the way, if you are anywhere near downtown Buffalo tomorrow, my group Free NY will be proposing the permanent elimination of the state gas tax of 32 cents a gallon.
The band of criminals who call themselves the State of Delaware have decided to heavily tax one of the few forms of recycling that is actually good for the environment. Metal dealers in the diamond state must now get licenses to heat metal to its melting point, keep detailed documentation of where every ounce of metal comes from, and suffer new mandatory waiting periods before completing each transaction. Full story here. Thanks to Michael D. for the link!
An Ohio judge ruled that a medical examiner must delete from her autopsy reports any reference to tasers as contributing to the deaths of three persons. This judge provides us the opportunity to resolve a lot of controversial issues. With the pounding of his gavel, he might go on to rule on the question of whether life arose through evolution or intelligent design; whether global warming is caused by human activity or physical forces in the solar system; and whether Newton's Third Law of Motion provides an analog to explain the many unforeseen consequences of state action. A man in a priestly black robe, sitting behind a judicial altar, and authoritatively dispensing "truth": has all the makings of a secular religion, does it not?
"A medical examiner must change her autopsy findings to delete any reference that stun guns contributed to the deaths of three people involved in confrontations with law enforcement officers, a judge ruled."
There's nothing to see here...move along...
Here's my review of Bill Kauffman's excellent Ain't My America: The Long, Noble History of Anti-War Conservatism and Middle-American Anti-Imperialism.
L. Neil Smith has written Time For A Purge?, regarding those in the LP who want the feds and states to "cooperate" for the sake of protecting us all from the scourge of child porn. Neil notes:
the first priority of any real libertarian is to ensure everybody knows and thoroughly understands that anyone who refuses to take the Zero Aggression Principle seriously, as the central, indispensable tenet of the movement—or in the case of the LP, to take the oath of zero aggression—should not be regarded as a libertarian at all, but just another thug reserving a right he mistakenly imagines he has to initiate force against his fellow human beings whenever he finds it convenient.... if this sort of ugly struggle is to be avoided, what needs to be done—and immediately—is for the LP board of directors to hand Cory and Davis their walking papers, and then to publicly retract and apologize for their original anti-libertarian statement. If the board fails with regard to principal in this affair, they, too, should be replaced, at the upcoming national convention in Denver.
To that end, THE LIBERTARIAN ENTERPRISE is asking you to join us in rectifying this sorry situation. We will shortly have an online petition up. Check back for it, look it over, and add your name to those demanding what's right.
