Some of his detractors say he's a protectionist, but of course he's not. It is true that Ron is opposed to bureaucratic managed trade agreements and international agencies like the WTO, but he is a champion of unilaterally lowering tariffs, like all classical liberals, as well as an opponent of the most vicious trade restrictions of all. He sees trade as a human right and the path to peace and prosperity. And he points out the hypocrisy of the "free trade" Republicans who helped cut trade off from the Iraqi people, leading to hundreds of thousands of deaths.
