"Mr. Libertarian," the late, great Murray Rothbard had this to say about Dishonest Abe and his war:
"In every other part of the New World, [the end of] slavery was peacefully brought about by agreement with the slaveholders. But in these other countries . . . there were no Puritan millenialists [a.k.a., "Yankees"] to do their bloody work, armed with a gun in one hand and hymn book in the other."
"Lincoln's conciliatory words on slavery cannot be taken at face value. Lincoln was a master politician, which means that he was a consummate conniver, manipulator and liar."
