Bloomberg to Announce Presidential Run

According to Forbes Magazine, NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg will announce that he’s running for president some time after Super Tuesday, February 5th; a supporter told Forbes that he is prepared to spend up to $2 billion of his own money in a race.

I sure hope he follows through: a Bloomberg candidacy will slice the Nanny State vote right down the middle between himself and the democratic candidate. The more he spends, the worse the democratic candidate does.

As a result of the reduced prospects for a democratic victory in November, voters in the latter primaries — 42% of the delegates — will be less inclined to vote for candidates who can “beat Hillary” (Giuliani and Romney). All the better for Paul, who is well-positioned to pick off overlooked states running later primaries.
