New Dilemma for Cato's Fred Thompson Fans

Various Cato "analysts" have taken a lot of web criticism recently for sounding like Fred Thompson groupies on various web sites while voicing no support at all for the only real libertarian to run for president in generations, Ron Paul. They give various reasons, that seem to come down to: He's not a "cosmopolitan," youthful "metrosexual," as they seem to fancy themselves; he doesn't pander to race hustlers (or to any other special-interest group); and he doesn't personally perform background checks of every one of the hundreds of thousands of people who have donated to his campaign.

But here's a BIG PROBLEM for the "libertarian" Thompson groupies: Wolf Blitzer just interviewed racial slur-slinger Sen. George Allen, who has announced his support of Fred Thompson.

Will various obscure law professors and think tankers now begin DEMANDING that Thompson disassocate himself from Allen?
