Not, tragically, in a bit part on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Writes Peter Klein: “I just saw an HBO documentary on PETA. The show included a string of clips from news shows with various commentators denouncing PETA’s crazy views. One of the clips features Lew — a somewhat younger Lew, so this must have been a few years back — saying something like ‘If they want to eat grass and wear plastic shoes, I have no problem with that, but they want to use the government to enforce their crackpot views on the rest of us.’ Alert viewers can see the words on the screen, ‘Lew Rockwell, President of the Ludwig von Mises Institute.’
“Lew, any recollection of that interview? Where did it appear?”
Peter, it was the Sonja Friedman Show in Los Angeles in the late 1980s, so I was definitely somewhat younger. I was debating a PETA official, but it was effectively over when I reminded the audience that the founder of PETA had said she was sick and tired of hearing about Auschwitz because more than 6 million broiler chickens were killed each day in the US.
