I see John Edwards has unveiled a six-point plan for “Fighting Widespread Hunger Among America’s Families.” You know, to help all of those emaciated poor people one sees keeling over in America’s streets, who also suffer the gross indignity of receiving only basic cable.
Anyway, his six points are, concisely summarized:
1. More welfare spending.
2. More welfare spending.
3. More welfare spending.
4. More welfare spending.
5. More welfare spending. And
6. More welfare spending.
Brilliant! (So says Atlantic blogger and Ron Paul smearer Matthew Yglesias.) You’d think in all of Edwards’s and the lefty bloggers’ talk about the Farm Bill, they might suggest eliminating subsidies for wealthy farmers — but why bother when you can just spend more?
