As reported on NPR's Day to Day today (Wednesday), a reporter from the Times of London (Nick Meo) on the Myanmar-Thailand border spoke to a major who defected from the Myanmar military. The major said that as a devout Buddhist he couldn't fire on monks, so he left the army and fled to Thailand. The major, who was a 20-year army veteran, said that he believed he would burn in hell for eternity if he gave the order to fire on monks.
Why aren't all the American Christian soldiers in Iraq leaving the army and refusing to fight this unjust war? Shame on them.
