The Neocons’ Dr. Strangelove

After receiving the Claremont Institute’s “statesmanship award” last year Victor Davis Hanson closed his remarks, which were about the status of the Iraq war, with something that Winston Churchill said during World War II: “These are not dark days: these are great days — the greatest days our country has ever lived.”

To this Hanson added: “Never more true than today,” which drew applause according to the Claremontista web site.

So to Hanson and the applauding Claremontistas, what is going on in Iraq today represents “the greatest days our country has ever lived.” What a pack of sickos.

(This year’s 2007 “statesmanship” award winner is Donald Rumsfeld).
