Did San Francisco Giants superstar Barry Bonds use steroids? I can't know for sure, but I do know that it is none of the federal government's business.

Of course, the omnipotent state sees all of creation as within its purview, so Bush outlawed the performance-enhancing drugs. Now apparently the federal attorney will indict Bonds before he can break Henry Aaron's homerun record, and therefore abort the attempt.

I don't advocate using steroids, statins, or any other dangerous drugs, but if an adult choses to do so, surely that is his own business.

Major League Baseball can rule out their use, as can the Giants, but if a player breaks the rules, that is a civil matter, not a criminal one.
