Lew: Equally phony was the LAPD promise to "reopen" Dorner's disciplinary case. Now that Dorner is presumably dead, is there anyone who believes such an inquiry will be undertaken by the department? It was initially said that the case would be reopened in order to satisfy the public that the police system has integrity. Couldn't that purpose still be served? Now, however, such an inquiry will be deemed "moot" by statist attorneys, while others will contend that reopening the case will just aggravate old wounds. Better to go on with more important news stories, . . . like towing a crippled cruise ship back to port!
