I made an error in this LRC column of mine. There, I stressed the value of the LP nominating its candidate after the duopoly conventions. However, I have been informed "It is not practically possible to do, at least until the LP is pre-qualified for ballot access in all states or the requirements are changed in a number of states. We simply do not have enough time to petition if the convention is held late because some states require that the name of the candidate appear on the petition and later substitutions can not be made. In the past such substitutions have been allowed both for the LP and Independent ccandidates but now that we are perceived as a real threat such ballot access laws hare being used to throttle us." This quote comes from one of several responses to that article of mine. Sorry for my error.
