Republicans are upset, and rightly so, about Obama's mandate requiring employers to purchase insurance coverage for their employees that includes abortion-inducing drugs, sterilization, and contraception. Some of them are even talking about health freedom and railing against the government takeover of health care. Strange, not a word of protest against Medicare and Medicaid. Republicans are in fact big supporters of these socialized medicine programs. And then there is the largest expansion of Medicare in history that would have made LBJ proud—the Republican Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement, and Modernization Act of 2003, otherwise known as Bushcare. Do Republicans believe in real health freedom with no government intervention? Of course not. They want some Americans to pay for the health care of other Americans and see a broad role for the federal government when it comes to health care.
