"The prospects are probably good that he will be confirmed," said Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala. No Republican senator has yet come out against the nominee.
Eric Holder is a totalitarian monster who believes that individuals should not be able to defend themselves, even within their own homes, because the second Amendment, to him, is a "collective right." On Volokh:
As Deputy Attorney General, Holder was a strong supporter of restrictive gun control. He advocated federal licensing of handgun owners, a three day waiting period on handgun sales, rationing handgun sales to no more than one per month, banning possession of handguns and so-called "assault weapons" (cosmetically incorrect guns) by anyone under age of 21, a gun show restriction bill that would have given the federal government the power to shut down all gun shows, national gun registration, and mandatory prison sentences for trivial offenses (e.g., giving your son an heirloom handgun for Christmas, if he were two weeks shy of his 21st birthday). He also promoted the factoid that "Every day that goes by, about 12, 13 more children in this country die from gun violence"--a statistic is true only if one counts 18-year-old gangsters who shoot each other as "children."
...After 9/11, he penned a Washington Post op-ed, "Keeping Guns Away From Terrorists" arguing that a new law should give "the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms a record of every firearm sale." He also stated that prospective gun buyers should be checked against the secret "watch lists" compiled by various government entities.
Like Bill Anderson's one-man show bringing truth to the Duke non-rape case, David Codrea is launching a heroic crusade against this powermongering scalawag. He's published several articles over at the Examiner.com website:
In his January 6th article, Codrea notes that Holder:
- removed a US Attorney and his assistant US Attorney from any civil or criminal proceedings related to Waco because they dared to ask questions about the possibility of a cover-up.
- proposed more stringent penalties for terrorizing and jailing medical marijuana users
- played a key role in the terror kidnapping of Elian Gonzalez
- aspired to clamp down on the free Internet by imposing "reasonable restrictions"
Codrea's links led me to a November 2008 article on Holder by libertarian J.D. Tuccille. Says Tuccille: "Drug warrior, gun grabber and fan of tear-gas-fueled paramilitary raids to resolve child custody disputes. That's Eric Holder, our new Attorney General."
Codrea is right about one thing - forget about the wimps in the NRA who are doing nothing to stop this fiasco. Give your money to the Gun Owners of America (GOA).
