‘Watching the Yule Log’

That’s how a friend described MSNBC’s coverage of the invasion of the colony of Gaza by the colony of the US. All we can see are burning “fuel dumps” (civilian stores of heating oil and gasoline). Not a hint of what the freer media, al-Jazeera and al-Arabiya, are broadcasting. Not that it is entirely monotonous film of low flames in the darkness. The cable channel did switch from the Israeli prime minister’s comments to ex-US colonel Jack Jacobs, who – like MSNBC itself – is an adjunt of the military-industrial complex, which supplies the weapons for the invasion, courtesy of the coerced US taxpayer. Jacobs is a figure of authority – he also helps promote the US invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan – because he got a government geegaw while on the government payroll for killing Vietnamese.
