Democracy Now and the Sectarian Amy Goodman (Updated)

Andrew Sirkis writes: “Your blog posting of Amy Goodman interviewing Bill Richardson about the 500,000 murdered children was very interesting…. Have you seen the rest of the interview? I am only asking because I was wondering if Amy Goodman asked any tough follow up questions about all of those innocent dead Iraqis. When Goodman questioned ’saint’ Jimmy Carter about having supplied arms that the Indonesian ruling party bosses used to murder innocent people in East Timor he replied that he was too busy being President to have time to notice. She let him off the hook and asked no further questions on the topic during the remainder of her fawning interview. After all, he is a left winger and former high ranking party boss, you know.
“Thank you for posting the interview with Richardson. It really does vividly illustrate that the ruling party bosses are morally reprehensible. He was obviously irritated that anyone would dare ask him about his murderous and cruel policy.

“In addition to Amy Goodman ignoring Ron Paul, she has ignored everyone who is anti-war but not leftist. She ignores Lew Rockwell, the Mises Institute and everyone associated with it, the Independent Institute, and Antiwar.com. Strategically, she is being foolish to not try to form some sort of ad hoc anti-war coalition with anyone who is against war. Sadly, she is sacrificing her anti war principles for the sake of left wing political correctness.

“Has she ever inquired about interviewing you or anyone else associated with the Mises Institute?

“I listen to her show almost every day and it’s clear to me that she ignores the likes of Ron Paul and Lew Rockwell because she loves the state and loves the idea of government bosses ordering the people what to do, provided they agree with her on policy. Thus, a Ron Paul or a Lew Rockwell must be ignored as they would both voice opinions that, if thought through, would totally fly in the face of what she really wants.

“Maybe one day she will figure out that in a democracy the state will always, everywhere and without exception, end up being controlled by the corrupt, self-serving, and crooked elites.”

UPDATE: I have since learned that Amy Goodman has had Antiwar.com’s Justin Raimondo on her program two or three times over the years.
