Chris, I note that Arianna Huffington cites one Robert Borosage, who also claims to want to save the Republican Party. Yeah, just like FDR’s socialist advisors wanted to “save capitalism.”

Borosage was a “director” of the radical socialist “Institute for Policy Studies” in the ’70s and early ’80s. I quoted him in my book, Destroying Democracy: How the Government Funds Partisan Politics (co-authored with James Bennett). At the time, he was a big defender of the communist government of Nicaragua. In defending the disastrous regime of price controls imposed by the Communistas he said, “When supplies are limited and prices rise . . . then the poor cannot buy any. So the price was fixed at a low price . . .” Of course, “supplies are limited” because of nationalization.

When asked about the Communistas’ abolition of freedom of the press he said “you probaly have as great a degree of personal freedom as you find in any similar revolution.” No worse than Stalin, in other words.

“The Sandanistas have done with their economy exactly what most of us . . . social democrats would like to do with ours,” said Borosage. Judging from his current writings, he doesn’t seem to have changed his views much. He’s a big Obama supporter, of course, just like Arianna.
