The Dems long ago adopted Afghanistan/Pakistan as their own war. Still, it’s very scary to watch them bring their own entanglement, their own Iraq, into being.
Biden: “And for the last seven years, the administration has failed to face the biggest — the biggest forces shaping this century: the emergence of Russia, China and India as great powers, the spread of lethal weapons, the shortage of secure supplies of energy, food and water, the challenge of climate change and the resurgence of fundamentalism in Afghanistan and Pakistan, the real central front in the war on terror. (Cheers, applause.)”
How stupid and wrong can the leaders of empires be?
Cheers and applause? How stupid, gullible, and wrong can their followers be? How lacking in independent thought? Immensely.
Biden: “with Russia challenging the very freedom of the new democratic country of Georgia. Barack and I will end that neglect. We will hold Russia accountable for its actions and we will help the people of Georgia rebuild. (Cheers, applause.)”
How stupid? Very, very stupid. How pliable the crowd? Immensely so.
Biden: “This is his time. This is our time. This is America’s time. (Cheers, applause.)”
He needs to believe this. He does believe this. Senators have a private club that heightens their sense of their own importance. In their minds, they link themselves to the Roman Senate.
Biden began with: “I am truly honored to live in a country with the bravest warriors in the world. (Cheers, applause.)” He ended with: “may God protect our troops”
Leaders of empire believe their own self-deceptions to the point of psychosis. They have their own private castles-in-the-air. Either that or they are astounding hypocrites.
I read the transcript. I didn’t view the speech. It looks to me like a first-rate political speech. And that is very sad.
